Monmouth County Commissioner Candidate Eduardo Castillo on the age Issue
To the people of Monmouth County,
I'm Eduardo Castillo, a 22 year old resident of Marlboro, and a working class retail worker, running in the Democratic Primary for the Monmouth county board of commissioners. The purpose of this press release, is to address concerns regarding age as it pertains to governing. While I disagree with the notion that I am too young to be seeking this office, as well as performing the duties that are required by extension of holding this office, I appreciate those concerns, and will address them cordially.
Most people in elected office have been there for decades, and look where it’s gotten us here in Monmouth County, and across New Jersey. Rent is up, utilities are up, and young families are leaving Monmouth because they cannot afford to stay. I’m 22 years old, I work in retail, and I am living the exact same economic reality as my neighbors. I don’t have 'political experience' in making backroom deals, but I have plenty of experience in making a paycheck stretch.
This is not a battle of old vs young, but of bold, fresh ideas, and old, fragile policies, as well as unstable governance. I'm running for Monmouth County Commissioner, because we deserve a commission that does not berate workers for disagreeing with the decisions of the commission, calling said workers nobodies, and getting away with it in broad daylight. Here in Monmouth County, nobody is a nobody, and the commissioners should know that. I'm running to be a commissioner that doesn't secretly vote to raise my own pay, while simultaneously voting for a 23 million tax increase on residents in Monmouth County.
This is the perspective that the Board of Commissioners is missing, and this is why I am running to be your next country commissioner. We need to make Monmouth more affordable, and we need to have a transparent, and honest government that can get the job done, thank you.
