New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus Announces 2026–2028 Leadership

Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds Jackson to Succeed Shavonda Sumter as Chair of NJLBC

Trenton, NJ — The New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus (NJLBC) today announces its 2026–2028 leadership team for the upcoming legislative session.

Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson will serve as the next Chair of the New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus. She brings four terms of legislative experience, a strong record of public service, and a collaborative approach to leadership.

The New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus serves as a unified voice advancing legislation addressing the persistent inequities affecting Black residents and underserved communities. The Caucus has played a leading role in shaping policy related to maternal health outcomes, housing stability, public safety and justice reform, education equity, and economic opportunity. As the new legislative session begins, the NJLBC remains focused on delivering community-driven solutions that improve quality of life across the state.
