Noem Axed: Pou Says 'Good Riddance'

Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-9), a member of the House Homeland Security Committee and the top Democrat on the Homeland Security Task Force focused on World Cup security, today reacted to the long-deserved firing of U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
“In a rogue’s gallery of corrupt, unqualified, incompetent officials in this administration, Kristi Noem may take the cake,” said Congresswoman Pou. “Noem’s department has wreaked chaos on our streets, broke up families, killed Americans, and jeopardized the safety of the World Cup and nation at large. The level of corruption she actively enabled has soiled our country and stolen millions from taxpayers. Her successor must commit to making the necessary reforms to ICE or face the same fate. Good riddance.”
As a member of the Homeland Security Committee, Congresswoman Pou has been a long-running critic of Kristi Noem. On October 14, 2025, Pou led 11 members of New Jersey’s congressional delegation calling on Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to restore federal security grant funding that is being slashed by the Trump administration by nearly 50 percent. On January 26, 2026, Congresswoman Pou signed on to a letter demanding that Secretary Noem answer questions about deaths in CBP and ICE custody.
At an oversight hearing on May 14, 2025, Pou confronted Noem, telling her, “You are actually breaking the law.” On January 28, 2026, Pou called for Noem’s removal, either by firing or by impeachment.
