Passaic County Expands Addiction Treatment, Prevention, and Recovery Services

Paterson, NJ — The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners approved a series of contracts that reinforce the County’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the local continuum of care for individuals and families impacted by substance use disorders.
“This action reflects our commitment to addressing substance use with compassion, accountability and a focus on long-term recovery,” said Commissioner Christina Schratz. “By investing in treatment, prevention and recovery supports across the County, we are expanding access to care, strengthening families and helping residents build healthier futures.”
The approved funding supports critical addiction treatment, prevention and recovery services under the County Comprehensive Plan for Addiction Services (Chapter 51). The awards reflect a balanced investment across the full spectrum of care, ensuring Passaic County residents have access to timely, evidence-informed services at multiple levels.
Strengthening the Continuum of Care
The approved contracts support a diverse network of providers delivering services that range from medically supervised withdrawal management to youth prevention initiatives.
- Detoxification and residential stabilization services will be provided through Turning Point, Inc. and Straight & Narrow, Inc., ensuring access to supervised withdrawal management and short-term residential treatment.
- Outpatient and community-based services are expanded through Care Plus Bergen, Inc., NewBridge Services, Inc. and Eva's Village, Inc., increasing access to Levels 1–3 treatment and regional addiction services, including coverage in Upper Passaic County.
- Prevention and early intervention efforts are strengthened through William Paterson University’s Teen Summit initiative and Straight & Narrow’s ATOD for Families program, supporting youth education, family engagement and the development of protective factors.

These investments advance Passaic County’s priorities to improve access to care across all regions, reduce overdose risk through timely treatment, support family-centered prevention and youth engagement and maintain a coordinated and accountable system of care.
