RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP THANKS POLICE CHIEF WILL HARZULA FOR HIS SERVICE

Randolph Township wishes to recognize and honor Chief Will Harzula as he concludes his tenure as Chief of Police, a role he has served with distinction since July 1, 2021. Chief Harzula’s path to law enforcement was shaped by a deep sense of service. A graduate of The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Justice, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army, where he rose to the rank of E-6 Staff Sergeant. A Distinguished Honor Graduate of the prestigious Army Ranger School, Chief Harzula was deployed to Afghanistan following September 11, 2001, and was awarded the Bronze Star with a “V” device for Valor for his actions in service to his country.

In 2003, Chief Harzula brought that same spirit of service to law enforcement, joining the Randolph Township Police Department as a Patrol Officer after graduating from the Union County Police Academy. Over the course of more than two decades with the department, he steadily advanced through the ranks, serving as Lieutenant since 2013. During his eight-year tenure as Lieutenant, he led the Patrol Division, Detective Bureau, and Internal Affairs before being appointed Chief of Police in 2021.

Outgoing Chief Will Harzula reflected on his tenure and offered his appreciation to residents: “It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve this community for the past 22+ years. As I prepare for the next chapter in my life, I want to take this final opportunity to say thank you to the entire Randolph community.”

Randolph Township is pleased that this legacy of excellence will continue under the leadership of incoming Chief Keith Donovan, whose appointment is effective March 1, 2026. Incoming Chief Donovan brings more than a quarter century of law enforcement experience, having served with the Randolph Township Police Department since 2000. Over the course of more than two decades with the department, he earned promotions to Detective, Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, and Patrol Lieutenant before assuming his current role as the Detective Lieutenant.

On behalf of the Township Council, Township Manager, and the entire Randolph community, we extend our deepest gratitude to Chief Harzula for his remarkable career in service to our Township. We wish him and his family all the best in the years ahead.
