Somerset County Commissioner Sara Sooy has suspended her CD-7 campaign and is endorsing Rebecca Bennett.

Commissioner Sooy's full statement:

"One mission. One movement.

"Today, I am stepping aside and proudly endorsing Rebecca Bennett for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th

District.

"This moment demands unity, not division. The real mission before us is clear: defending our democracy and defeating Tom Kean. Flipping seats is what I do best, and I will work side by side with Rebecca to win NJ-7 and restore principled leadership to Washington.

"Rebecca is a proven patriot who understands that this race is about people, not politics. Together, we will ensure every community in NJ-7 is seen, heard, and represented.

"If multiple Democrats continue to run, we would waste millions of dollars fighting one another, money better spent defeating Congressman Kean and protecting our democratic values. This is not the time for ego or infighting. It’s time for focus, discipline, and shared purpose.

"We may not have a party line, but we have one mission:

"Put NJ-7 first. Protect our democracy. Win this seat."
