Rebecca Bennett for Congress in
New Jersey's 7th Congressional District
NEWARK, N.J. – The SEIU New Jersey State Council and 32BJ SEIU today announced their joint endorsement of Rebecca Bennett for Congress in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District. As one of the nation's key swing districts, CD-7 could play a decisive role in determining control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Through this endorsement, SEIU NJ State Council and 32BJ SEIU are committing to support Bennett and engage union members across the district in the months ahead. The endorsement reflects a shared commitment to electing leaders who will stand with working families, protect workers' rights, and expand economic opportunity. Backed by more than 30,000 SEIU members across New Jersey, the endorsement brings substantial grassroots organizing strength and political power to one of the nation's most closely watched congressional races.
"We are proud to endorse Rebecca Bennett for Congress," said Megan Chambers, President of the SEIU New Jersey State Council and Co-Manager of the Laundry, Distribution and Food Service Joint Board of Workers United, SEIU. "Working families across New Jersey need leaders who understand the challenges they face every day and who are committed to advancing policies that create good jobs, protect workers' rights, expand access to affordable healthcare, and strengthen our communities. Tom Kean Jr. has done the opposite. He has sold out New Jerseyans, transferring our tax dollars to billionaires at the expense of working people. Rebecca has committed to putting working people first in Washington, and our members are ready to engage voters across the district and do their part to help flip CD-7 and send a champion for working families to Congress."
“New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District will be critical to determining who controls Congress, and workers cannot afford more of the same. Rebecca Bennett understands that working families are struggling with rising costs, unaffordable healthcare, and an economy that too often leaves workers behind. We are proud to support her campaign because she shares our commitment to creating good union jobs, raising wages, and making New Jersey more affordable for working people. Flipping CD-7 is essential to restoring checks and balances in Washington and ensuring working families have leaders who will fight for them every day.” -- Ana Maria Hill, Vice President and New Jersey State Director, 32BJ SEIU
"The caregivers of 1199SEIU are thrilled to put our full support behind Rebecca Bennett for Congress in CD-7," said La'Tenya King, Vice President of 1199SEIU and Vice President of the SEIU New Jersey State Council. "Rebecca understands the challenges New Jersey families face as they struggle to make ends meet and confront the devastating federal healthcare cuts supported by Tom Kean Jr. Residents of CD-7 need a member of Congress who will stand every day with working people, fight to protect access to quality, affordable healthcare, and ensure New Jersey families can live with dignity and security. Electing Rebecca Bennett will be a top priority for our union this election year."
