Senator McKeon Congratulates Governor Mikie Sherrill
TRENTON – Senator John McKeon (D-Essex/Passaic) issued the following statement congratulating Governor Mikie Sherrill after her inauguration at NJPAC in Newark:
“I sincerely congratulate my friend Governor Mikie Sherrill on her historic inauguration and the beginning of her tenure as Governor of New Jersey. As an early and enthusiastic supporter of Governor Sherrill, I have known her to be a principled and determined leader with an unwavering commitment to the people of our state.
“Today, the first day of her administration, she kept her promise to declare a state of emergency on utility costs and immediately froze rate hikes for our residents. At a time when families across our state are struggling with affordability, Governor Sherrill has made it clear that the status quo is no longer acceptable. She is determined to lower costs and strengthen our energy future.
“I look forward to working closely with Governor Sherrill and my colleagues in the Legislature to build on our progressive successes and take on the challenges ahead, whether that be by fighting to lower prescription drug costs, passing groundbreaking environmental legislation, or standing up to President Trump to protect our democracy.”
