January 30, 2026

Bayonne, NJ — Mayoral candidate Sharon Nadrowski today announced Melissa Godesky-Rodriguez as her Second Ward Council candidate, citing Godesky-Rodriguez’s lifelong commitment to Bayonne, proven leadership, and dedication to transparent, accountable government that puts residents first.

Melissa Godesky-Rodriguez is  a lifelong Bayonne resident, proven leader, and dedicated public servant running for Second Ward Councilwoman because she believes residents deserve transparency, accountability, and real results for their tax dollars.

Born and raised in Bayonne, Godesky-Rodriguez has lived in nearly every corner of the city, giving her a deep understanding of the neighborhoods, families, and challenges that shape the community. While her roots span the entire city, she proudly calls the Second Ward home, where she has raised her family and built strong community connections. It is there that she is committed to fighting for smart growth, responsible development, and an improved quality of life for residents.

“Melissa understands Bayonne because she has lived it,” said Nadrowski. “She brings experience, integrity, and a deep respect for our neighborhoods. I am proud to have her on our team as we work to put residents first and restore trust in City Hall.”

Professionally, Godesky-Rodriguez brings decades of leadership experience in operations, customer experience, and workforce development, managing large teams, complex projects, and multimillion-dollar budgets with a focus on efficiency, accountability, and people-first solutions. She knows how to turn plans into action and how to make systems work better for the people they serve.

Currently serving a second term on the Bayonne Board of Education, Godesky-Rodriguez has worked to address overcrowded schools, advocate for students with diverse needs, and increase transparency around how education dollars are spent. That experience has given her a clear understanding of how policy decisions directly impact residents and why trust and communication matter.

Godesky-Rodriguez is a strong supporter of union labor, believing that protecting good jobs, fair wages, and safe working conditions strengthens Bayonne’s economy and keeps opportunity local. She believes development should benefit residents first — not push them out or leave them unheard.

Her platform is focused on actionable change: using taxpayer dollars responsibly, increasing transparency in city decision-making, ensuring equity at the table so every resident has a voice, and planning growth that respects Bayonne’s infrastructure, schools, and neighborhoods. While progress is being made, she believes there is more work to do, and that Bayonne grows best when it is willing to evolve.

“I’m running because I love this city and believe deeply in its people,” said Godesky-Rodriguez. “Bayonne’s future is strongest when residents come first.”
