State Police Unions Applaud Governor Sherrill’s Choice for Superintendent
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The three New Jersey State Police unions, the STFA, STNCOA, and the STSOA, applaud Governor Sherrill’s nomination of Jeanne Hengemuhle to be the next Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle is a career Trooper who rose through the ranks of the New Jersey State Police and possesses a vast background and working knowledge of the many crucial aspects and missions of the State Police. Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle has served in the Operations Branch, Executive Protection Detail, as a New Jersey State Police Academy Instructor, most notably as the Academy Commandant, and most recently as the Commander of the Administration Branch. The unions believe Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle’s experience as a law enforcement executive and her continuing commitment in recent years as a law enforcement policy and procedures consultant will be the strong foundation to the New Jersey State Police continuing to provide exceptional police services to the citizens of our State while fortifying public trust and confidence in the State Police.
“Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle was an academy instructor during my academy training, at which time she demonstrated great care and compassion for recruits, while instilling discipline, knowledge, and professionalism to myself and all recruits who have become enlisted into the ranks of the New Jersey State Police,” said Wayne Blanchard, President of the STFA. “Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle enjoyed a dedicated and decorated career in the New Jersey State Police that will give her the tools and knowledge base to lead the State Police to its highest levels internally, while externally enhancing our police services capabilities while increasing public satisfaction of the New Jersey State Police,” Blanchard said.
“The New Jersey State Police is an elite law enforcement agency that has played a critical role in maintaining public safety and fighting crime during some of the most challenging chapters of our history,” said Daniel Oliveira, President of the STNCOA. “We believe that there is no one better suited to lead our agency than someone who has come up through the ranks and understands the essential services we provide and the challenges we face. For these reasons, we welcome Acting Superintendent Jeanne Hengemuhle as our new Superintendent and look forward to working with her to move our agency forward and to continue our public safety mission,” Oliveira stated.
“The State Troopers Superior Officers Association congratulates Jeanne Hengemuhle on her appointment as Acting Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police,” stated Frank Serratore, President of the STSOA. “Having worked closely with Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle throughout her distinguished career, we are confident that her deep understanding of the Division's operations and her proven track record of collaboration will serve her well in this critical leadership role. Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle’s ascent through the ranks has always been marked by a pragmatic, common-sense approach to problem solving, always with a focus on the welfare of our members and the overall mission of the Division. She has consistently demonstrated a commitment to fostering strong relationships with the Superior Officers Association, listening to our concerns, and finding solutions that balance the needs of the Troopers with the broader goals of the Division. Her leadership will undoubtedly continue to guide the New Jersey State Police with the same dedication and integrity that has been her hallmark. We look forward to working alongside her as she navigates the challenges ahead,” said Serratore.
The STFA, STNCOA, and the STSOA will unanimously support Hengemuhle throughout her confirmation proceedings, and hope that her confirmation will occur expeditiously. The New Jersey State Police and our members have the honor of providing public safety services to millions of people from all over the globe during this year’s FIFA World Cup matches held here in the Great State of New Jersey. We believe Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle will ensure success with this and all of our important law enforcement missions.
