“This morning, my office continued our defense of the Gateway Tunnel project at the Second Circuit. The Trump Administration’s decision to appeal and fight for its ability to reinstate its unlawful funding freeze is both wrong on the law and harmful for New Jersey and New York, our residents, and the workers on this critical project. The Administration’s original funding freeze added millions of dollars in costs and idled nearly 1,000 workers. Because of the order my office secured, the project is back on track and workers are back on the job.

We urge the Administration to stop trying to derail this project, which will improve commutes and ensure safe and reliable rail service for hundreds of thousands of New Jerseyans. But if they will not, Governor Sherrill and my office will keep fighting to protect our states, our workers, and our residents.”
