Sue Altman Calls On All Democrats Running in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District to Support Bipartisan War Powers Resolution

Sue Altman, Democratic candidate for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District, released the following statement calling on all Democrats running in NJ-12 to support the bipartisan War Powers Resolution coming before the House of Representatives:
“I was in my twenties during the aftermath of 9/11 and saw thousands of my generation sent off to become casualties of war in Iraq and Afghanistan. We must learn from history and not let Iran turn into another endless, illegal regime-change war propagated by a President who would rather sacrifice American servicemembers and trample on the Constitution than admit he is failing to improve the quality of life for American families or lower costs for working people.
If there are legitimate reasons for us to be at war with Iran, the burden of proof is on the President and his administration to make the case to Congress and the American people – something they have yet to do.
It’s time for Congress to take back its authority over the Executive Branch – we must pass a bipartisan War Powers Resolution now to rein in this administrations’ lawless actions.
I call on every Democrat running in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District to unequivocally support this measure.”
