Thomas J. Sullivan, President of IBEW Local 164, and Joseph R. Jingoli Jr., CEO & Chairman of JINGOLI, to be Honored at the Cardinal’s 33rd Annual Business & Labor Reception

Newark, N.J. – Thomas J. Sullivan, president of IBEW Local 164, and Joseph R. Jingoli Jr., CEO and chairman of the board of JINGOLI, will be honored at the Cardinal’s 33rd Annual Business & Labor Recognition Reception on Tuesday, March 3, at The Grove in Cedar Grove.

The annual event has raised more than $5 million since it began 33 years ago. This year marks the 10th time it has been hosted under the leadership of Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark. The reception draws hundreds of business and labor leaders. It supports the Archdiocese of Newark’s Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and Retreat Center in Kearny, which serves more than 60,000 young people each year from diverse racial, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

“Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Jingoli are men of great character whose dedication to their employees, members and communities truly sets them apart,” said Tom Conboy, the Archdiocese’s director of youth and young adult ministry and CYO. “They join the ranks of our state’s most distinguished business and labor leaders, and we look forward to recognizing them at our annual event.”

Sullivan, this year’s labor honoree, is a lifelong Bergen County resident and a recognized leader in education and economic development. He began his career as an apprentice electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 164 before becoming a journeyman electrician. He was elected vice president in 2010 and president in 2013. A strong advocate for trade union solidarity, he has served as president of the Bergen County Building Trades since 2021 and is also a member of the Bergen County Board of Commissioners. In 2021, he was nominated by Gov. Phil Murphy and confirmed by the New Jersey Senate to serve on the New Jersey Health Care Facilities Finance Authority. Sullivan and his family live in Montvale.

Jingoli, this year’s business honoree, is a leader in contracting, construction and power and renewable energy, as well as an activist and philanthropist. In the gaming industry, he and partners Michael Jingoli, Jack Morris and the Seminole Tribe of Florida are founding partners of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. For more than 30 years, he has focused on education, job training and mentorship programs that have helped thousands of young people enter careers in construction. He founded the Leaders in Training Program, which provides summer employment and educational support to teens in Atlantic City, New Brunswick and Newark. He also championed job creation and fair hiring practices by advocating for the renaming of New Jersey’s Drug Court to the Recovery Court. Jingoli serves as chairman of the Farm Team, a workforce rehabilitation program for individuals in recovery, based at his family’s New Jersey farm.
