UTCA STATEMENT ON GATEWAY TUNNEL

UTCA

WALL – Utility and Transportation Contractors Association (UTCA) Chief Executive Officer David Rible issued the following statement today regarding the possibility that construction of the Gateway Tunnel could cease due to the freezing of government funds.

“I have said this before and I will say it again: the Gateway Tunnel is not a game. We are talking about the single most important infrastructure project of this generation.

“UTCA fully agrees with Governor Sherrill when she stated that failure to release federal funding for Gateway would be devastating to our industry and the economy. It’s thousands and thousands of jobs lost. Those are not just numbers on a page. Those are real people with real families to support. To put them out of work, for seemingly no good reason, simply cannot be allowed to happen.

“No more games. It’s time for the federal government to release the funding.”
