WNYC Launches ASK GOVERNOR SHERRILL on Wednesday April 15

NEW YORK, NY — April 13, 2026 –  WNYC, WBGO, WHYY and Montclair State University today announced the launch of Ask Governor Sherrill, a bi-monthly live call-in show with New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill. The series debuts on Wednesday, April 15 at 7 p.m.

Hosted by Michael Hill (Host of Morning Edition on WNYC and Newark Today on WBGO), each show features a conversation with Governor Sherrill on the latest news in New Jersey, and direct questions from the audience via call-in, social media, and online submissions. The show will broadcast live from the studios at Montclair State University.

Ask Governor Sherrill is the successor to Ask Governor Murphy, which ran throughout most of Murphy’s time in office. Together with The Brian Lehrer Show’s recurring segment, “Call Your Senator,” which features appearances from New Jersey Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim, these programs offer New Jersey residents a direct line to their elected officials.

A second broadcast is planned for June 3. Additional broadcasts will be announced at a later date.

"I promised to make the state government more accountable to the people of New Jersey, so I look forward to hearing directly from our residents, listening to their concerns, and answering their questions. I'm grateful to partner with our hosts to keep up this New Jersey tradition," said Governor Sherrill.

“We’re proud to collaborate with Governor Sherrill’s office, our public radio peers at WBGO and WHYY and Montclair State University to create a trusted forum for New Jersey and beyond. As a New Jersey native, Michael is the perfect host to bring forward the issues top of mind for the New Jersey audience. We are appreciative of Governor Sherrill’s support, enthusiasm and trust as we launch this program for the community,” said Christy Tanner, President & CEO of New York Public Radio, which includes WNYC.

The program takes live calls at 844-745-8255 and collects audience questions in advance at this link.

“Ask Governor Sherrill” will be heard throughout New Jersey and the tri-state area on WNYC, WBGO, WHYY, and NJPR, and will be available for live and on-demand streaming at wnyc.org, wbgo.org, and whyy.org.

Lead support for New Jersey Public Radio is provided by The Fund for New Jersey and Martin Heller, with additional support from the F.M. Kirby Foundation and the Schumann Fund for New Jersey.
