METUCHEN - State Senator Ronald L. Rice (D-28) doesn't deny that there are good things in that economic report presented last week by a group assembled by Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3).

But he questions the process, and he questions motive.

He also resists a key recommendation in the report, namely weakening government workers' pensions and benefits plans.
