Senate President Nick Scutari announced the appointment of Jessica Cohen as the Executive Director of the Senate Majority Office. Cohen has been serving as Interim Executive Director and as the Senate President’s Chief of Staff. She will continue as Senator Scutari’s Chief of Staff.

“Jess is an exceptionally talented woman who has succeeded in gaining the trust and respect of the members of the Democratic caucus and the public officials and organizations we work with to shape public policies,” said Senate President Scutari. “Her experience in government, with non-profit organizations and in the hospital and biotech sectors equips her with insights that will be invaluable as we work to address the needs of the people of New Jersey and move the state forward.”

Cohen succeeds former Executive Director Tim Lydon in the Senate Democrat’s top staff position. Lydon was appointed Chief Counsel by Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill after working as General Counsel and Policy Director on the Sherrill for Governor Campaign.

Cohen previously served as Chief of Staff in Union County, Chief of Staff for Senator Joe Cryan, Chief of Staff for former Senator Ellen Karcher, and as Director of Government Affairs for the Arc of New Jersey and the New Jersey Hospital Association. She was named Senior Advisor and Policy Director by Senator Scutari when he first became Senate President.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Senate President and the members of the Senate Majority as Executive Director,” said Cohen. “I look forward to building on our policy achievements as we work together to advance legislative priorities that will improve the quality of life for the residents of New Jersey.”
