The defeat of Trump MAGA Republicans in New Jersey and Virginia sent a message to the nation tonight that people are fed up with Trump’s misappropriation of the enormity of America for his own tiny, epicurean interests.

This bone spur-addled President enriches himself while shutting down our government, accepts lavish gifts from foreign governments, plays golf at his golf courses, aids in the covering up of the Epstein Files, and destroys the East Wing of the White House while real people struggle to make rent and pay for groceries.

In stunning contrast, Abigail Spanberger of Virgina (a Jersey girl, naturally, who hails from Red Bank) and Mikie Sherill of New Jersey (originally from Virginia) stepped forward with resumes of real public service. Sherrill served nearly ten years in the Navy as a helicopter pilot, while Spanberger served as a CIA operations officer.

On the campaign trail, Sherrill and Spanberger showed bravery and spoke of self-sacrifice in the face of a completely withered and sick version of America personified by a television personality turned hateful Twitter chatterbox.

Their wins in tough elections give their party a new direction as Democrats head toward the 2026 midterm elections and look to wrest control from Trump Republicans. Cowed by Trump, the GOP now oversees a slender 219-213 House majority, perilously on a knife’s edge tonight seek to capitalize on the momentum of Virgina and New Jersey.

U.S.  Rep. Tom Kean in CD-7 comes immediately to mind. The establishment redistricted former U.S. Rep. Tom Malinowski out of commission in 2022 to nudge Republican Kean into office. But just as Trump destroyed Ciattarelli’s chances, the President now gives impassioned Democrats a huge bump in Central Jersey. The fact that his golf course occupies CD-7 plops a massive obstacle in the notoriously reclusive Kean’s path.

Kean is visible, however, at last, for at least one government shutdown billboard sprang up in Flemington denouncing the congressman as an absentee lawmaker and dedicated Trump enabler. On the strength of Sherrill’s win – including big Dem gains among suburban households – Kean looks vulnerable as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) zeroes in on battleground districts to boost numbers in the United States House of Representatives. Once the stomping grounds of Trump’s desecrating MAGA hooligans on Jan. 6^th, 2021, the halls of government with a reinstalled Democratic majority, will build another critical component for Dems on their way toward the 2028 ballot box.
