Sherrill Plans Counter Rally to Trump’s New Jersey Setpiece
On Saturday, as Trump hosts a MAGA rally in Wildwood, Rep. Mikie Sherrill will lead a “Stand Up to Trump: New Jersey Day of Action.” Sherrill will rally New Jersey Democrats in support of President Joe Biden and candidates across the state, with several stops and actions to bolster Democratic support.
“Donald Trump stands for everything antithetical to New Jersey values – fear, division, and chaos. Just last week, he doubled down on his plan to restrict our reproductive rights by allowing states to monitor pregnant women and punish those who seek abortion care. That’s why I’m bringing New Jersey Democrats together to stand up to Trump with a Day of Action: Making calls, knocking doors, and returning vote-by-mail ballots. There’s so much at stake this November – that’s why we must elect Sue Altman, take back the House Democratic majority, and re-elect Joe Biden,” said Rep. Mikie Sherrill.
The “Stand Up to Trump: New Jersey Day of Action” will include – with more activations to come:
- A Morris County Democrats meet and greet with NJ-07 Candidate Sue Altman
- A Union County Democrats rally with NJ-07 Candidate Sue Altman and AFT President Randi Weingarten
- A Cape May County Democrats phone bank
- A visit to an Essex County small business to showcase support for reproductive freedom
Sherrill has been leading the charge against MAGA attacks on reproductive freedom – standing up for emergency abortion care, introducing legislation to close the judge shopping loophole used by anti-abortion extremists to ban abortion medication, and standing up for military servicewomen’s access to care. Despite the chaos caused by extreme MAGA Republicans and an opponent who has bearhugged Donald Trump, Sherrill has delivered for New Jersey including funding the Gateway Tunnel and just recently, brought back nearly $16 million in federal funding to NJ-11 for critical projects to improve our communities.

Abortion is an extremely personal matter and has been in the unsuitable political arena for decades. Regrettably, it is used to solicit votes. And it always surfaces during an election cycle. Because a true discussion of how far is too far is never addressed with clarity and all politicians tinker around the edges and never answer the question. So, women will continually be used as pawns by those, including fellow women, looking to get elected. Abortion has no place in politics, but that is my extremely personal opinion.
