Sources: Jones Rallies County Organization Chairs on Zoom Call

NJ Democratic Committee (and Essex County Democratic Committee) Chairman LeRoy Jones on Sunday convened a call with other leaders of the county party organizations to coordinate and galvanize his party's efforts on behalf of statewide Democratic nominee Mikie Sherrill.

Multiple county chairs joined the Zoom meeting, where Jones struck battle station tones.

Sherrill herself was also on the call on a weekend where her campaign appeared strongly fastened to party organizations around New Jersey, including Essex, Bergen, Middlesex, and South Jersey.

Jones told other Democrats that they have the better candidate and the better message and reminded them that with time ticking down until Nov. 4th, Election Day, everyone needed a mission critical mindset.

Jones' timing coincided with the ongoing aftermath of last week's big news story impacting the gubernatorial contest. Those coming off the call kicked around the strategic implications on the campaign of Republican Jack Ciattarelli- Sherrill's rival - going after her military record.

At least one opined that it was Ciattarelli World trying to kick the last leg of the Sherrill Campaign stool out from under her. In fact, the source suggested, those in the inner sanctum of the Jack Pack believe she hasn't stuck the landings of messaging and campaign coordination, so they felt sufficiently animated to chop away at the trust factor, the apparent crux of Sherrill's candidacy.

Others pointedly questioned Ciattarelli's strategy. He wins when he talks about property taxes, or at least the Republicans see that as Jack's winning message, Democrats noted. He loses when he gets tarred as a Trump homunculus. So, getting Donald Trump's National Archives involved and trying to tarnish an honorable veteran by reminding New Jerseyans of a draft-dodging, golf cart-driving, economy-burying President hardly helps him.

What gives?

At least one other source said it's a delicate Ciattarelli gamble, which enables him to take advantage of free media off the story and fundraise.

In any event, Jones and other Democratic Party chairs on the call welcomed the chance to burnish Sherrill's distinguished record and strike a strong contrast with a candidate backed by Trump, a who infamously derided the Vietnam War service of the late John McCain, a prisoner of war, and called U.S. servicemen buried in France "losers and suckers."

It was a moment, Jones told those on the call, that they must not miss.
