State of Affairs Examines the Current Stigmas Surrounding Police Officers

Steve Adubato speaks with Charlane Brown-Wyands, JD, Professor, Department of Justice Studies, Berkeley College, about the current stigmas surrounding police officers, the increased need for police officers in communities, and the importance of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act.

Steve Adubato asks Professor Brown-Wyands, how can we achieve a reasonable balance between police reform and supporting the men and women on the front lines in blue. She responds “It certainly can be achieved, it’s not an overnight process. First of all both groups have to remember that we are one, and we need each other to work together. That being said, I think police departments need to look inward and work on culture shifts.”
