Sue Altman Launches Campaign for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District

Sue Altman, Senator Andy Kim’s State Director and former Executive Director of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, announced her campaign for New Jersey's 12th Congressional District after current Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman announced her retirement late last year.
“I’ve spent my entire career fighting corruption by bringing people together to deliver real results for the working people of New Jersey,” said Altman. “As Senator Andy Kim’s State Director, I have seen firsthand the chaos and cruelty of the Trump administration. Corporations and the ultra wealthy are buying access to the most corrupt administration in American history, while working people pay more for everything. From masked men terrorizing immigrants and executing American citizens in the streets, to the decimation of our small businesses, cuts to the Gateway Tunnel, and the soaring cost of living, I have been on the frontlines of the fight to defend New Jerseyans.”
Whether it was having a mic thrown at her by Governor Chris Christie when she stood up to protect teachers and public education, being dragged out of a hearing in Trenton by Democratic party bosses after exposing a $1 billion tax incentive program that lined the pockets of corporate leaders in NJ’s poorest city, or leading Working Families as they began the lawsuit to abolish the County Line, Sue Altman has challenged powerful political insiders her entire career – from both parties.
“There are no superheroes coming to save us. We can’t rely on the same D.C. playbook that got us here to save us from this mess. We must beat Trump but after he’s gone, we cannot go back to the status quo. Nothing will be the same. Our country will be wounded. We have to rebuild our party, our government, and our country,” Altman added. “I cannot sit idly by – Central Jerseyans deserve someone who has a backbone and the vision to lead at one of the most vulnerable moments in American history. We must tackle Trump’s rampant corruption head on, actually deliver lower costs for American families, and assert power over the billionaires and corporations trying to control us. It’s time to rebuild for all of us.”
