UNITE HERE Local 54, the largest hospitality workers’ union in New Jersey, proudly announces its endorsement of Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill in her campaign for Governor of New Jersey.

With a long history of fighting for working families, and delivering real results for New Jerseyans, Mikie Sherrill has earned the trust and confidence of the more than 12,000 hospitality workers represented by Local 54.

“Mikie Sherrill has shown time and again that she stands with workers,” said Donna DeCaprio, President of UNITE HERE Local 54. “She understands the challenges faced by hospitality workers across New Jersey. From advocating for livable wages and safe working conditions to pushing for economic justice, she has stood with workers. Between skyrocketing utility costs, a Federal Government that seems hell bent on attacking working people and an affordability crisis, we know that New Jersey Workers are facing real challenges. We know that Mikie will confront all these challenges and place the needs of working people first.”

As a former Navy helicopter pilot, federal prosecutor, and current U.S. Representative, Sherrill has built a reputation for integrity, pragmatism, and unwavering dedication to public service. Her campaign for governor centers on building a fairer economy, protecting workers’ rights, and expanding access to affordable housing, health care, and quality education.

Local 54 is leading the movement to build real, family sustaining jobs in the hospitality industry. Local 54 members have played a pivotal role in past elections, record contract victories, and organizing workers across New Jersey. The union’s endorsement signals growing momentum behind Sherrill’s campaign, especially among working-class voters.
