Assembly Passes Bill Targeting GEO Group

TRENTON - The Legislature this afternoon passed A-4077, which imposes various taxes and fees on correctional service businesses to offset the social costs of incarceration.
The bill, of course, targets the privately contracted Delaney Hall in Newark, which is run by the GEO Group.
"The majority party does not like our president," griped Assemblyman Gregory McGuckin (R-10). "They're trying to adopt state legislation to interfere with... federal laws."
The bill passed, by a vote of 57-22-0.
