In Battleground Cumberland Freeholder Race, Pearson Ahead

The Cumberland County Democratic Organization held onto two of three seats countywide in tonight’s primary, however provisionals remain to be counted.

Running off the line with CD2 candidate Amy Kennedy against the machine, Cumberland County Freeholder Jack Surrency and Tracy Wells-Huggins lost tonight.

But a third ally, running mate Donna M. Pearson, was ahead of the organization rivals by 40 votes.

Seven-thousand provisional ballots remain to be counted.

All votes should be counted by 5:45 p.m.

Vineland, Bridgeton, and Millville have not been counted. Those three towns represent a majority of voters for the line F freeholder seats. Said a source: “I would speculate that line F candidates may have won this election.”
