Colleen O'Dea: EARLY VOTING UPDATE

BY COLLEEN O'DEA

Democrats have maintained wide early vote advantages in CD7 and CD2. Republicans voters over the weekend gave the party its only district voting advantage in the state in CD4. More than 1.2 million people voted early in-person or by mail, almost 57% of them Democrats and 24% Republicans.

In last year's gubernatorial race, the percent of registered Democrats voting early was roughly the same -- 27%. GOP enthusiasm for early voting this year was smaller -- about 17% of registered Republicans voted early so far, compared with 23% last year. Almost 100,000 fewer Republicans voted early so far.
