Englewood Unanimously Endorses Johnson for State Senate

First Lady Tammy Murphy and Assemblyman Gordon Johnson (D-37) campaign at the Shop Rite.

In a sweeping endorsement of Assemblyman Gordon M. Johnson for State Senate, Englewood’s Mayor Michael Wildes and the entire city council issued an emphatic joint statement in support of the city’s former Patrol Sergeant and At Large Councilman:

“It’s simple, there is no better person to represent the residents of Englewood than Gordon Johnson. Gordon has spent his life in Englewood: he grew up here, raised his children here, served in our police department and represented us in the State Assembly for over 18 years. Nobody has spent more time walking our city’s streets or speaking with our residents than Gordon and nobody has a greater understanding of what our community needs.

“We are proud to be the home of Gordon Johnson and proud to support him in his run for State Senate.”

The endorsement comes on the heels of endorsements from the Fort Lee Democrats, Northvale Council and Democratic Club, the Democratic Municipal Chairs of Palisades Park and Hackensack, as well as the Palisades Park Mayor and County Committee.

“The outpouring of local support has been greater than I could have imagined,” said Assemblyman Gordon Johnson. “This unwavering support from my hometown is both humbling and inspiring but most importantly, it reaffirms why I was called to public service in the first place – to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of my friends, family, neighbors and community.”
