Those expecting a Fredo-Michael Corleone Kiss at the Stony Hill Inn tonight came away disappointed, as state Senator Paul Sarlo (D-36) and Bergen County Democratic Committee Chairman Lou Stellato shelved the theatrics and settled for friendly, undramatic proximity at the South Bergen senator’s packed fundraiser.
Stellato and Sarlo haven’t always gotten along, a condition exacerbated by the senator’s close ties to South Jersey and the chairman’s resistance to GN3 world domination.
But Stellato, along with an avalanche of Building Trades types and man of the hour Joe Sanzari, showed up in support of the appreciative and unapologetically transactional Sarlo.
“I’m not a liberal Democrat,” said the senator. “I care about getting things done and moving the ball down the field.”
Senators Bob Gordon and Loretta Weinberg and Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco all turned out in support of Sarlo, who again heads the LD36 team this year.
