Kennedy to Challenge Steinman in Rahway for Municipal Party Chairmanship

Rahway

A source told InsiderNJ this afternoon that if Rahway Mayor Samson Steinman does not voluntarily step down as municipal chair of the Democratic Party at their reorganization meeting tonight, Assemblyman Jim Kennedy (D-22) will run against him in an effort to remove him.

Hounded by headlines about his car crack ups in recent months, Steinman will be given the chance to bow out gracefully to Kennedy, a former mayor.

If he fights, he will be forced down from the chair of power, the source said.
