Analilia Mejia, candidate for Congress in New Jersey's 11th District, released the following statement regarding last night's U.S. military strikes on Venezuela and the capture of President Maduro:

“Trump's strikes on Venezuela are an illegal act of war, period.

“Bombing another country and seizing its president is reckless, dangerous, and risks dragging us into another endless conflict. This also continues a long, shameful history of U.S. interference in Latin America.

“The Constitution is clear: only Congress can declare war. This attack is a dangerous POWER GRAB by a rogue executive. Congress must act NOW to restore balance and trust in our OWN government.

"The American people did not vote for another regime change war."
