Menendez Trial: Former HHS Secretary Sebelius Takes The Stand

NEWARK – Former Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebilius takes the stand in the corruption trial of Sen. Bob Menendez.

Sebilius is expected to testify about her meeting with Menendez in August 2012, brokered by then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

At the meeting, an angry and aggressive Menendez pushed for a change in Medicare billing that would have benefitted his friend and co-defendant Dr. Salomon Melgen. Menendez’s defense argues the senator was addressing contradictions in billing practices and only Reid mentioned Melgen by name.
