Pascrell Votes Against ‘Fatally Flawed Funding Bill’

Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today spoke on the House floor and voted against H.R. 6126, the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, as House Republicans conditioned a limited Middle East aid package upon a massive millionaires’ tax windfall.

“The vote today is a dereliction and an embarrassment,” said Congressman Pascrell. “Surrendering to Russia. Weak on China. Unserious for Israel. Ignoring the humanitarian crisis. Strong for millionaire tax cheats. These are the House Republican priorities while our allies are crying out for help. Israelis, Palestinians, and Ukrainians need our help. Clear humanitarian and defensive aid is the bare minimum and Republicans cannot even provide that. This bill is a bonanza for Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and all the millionaires and billionaires who want to keep cheating on their taxes and stealing from regular Americans. The funding President Biden requested for Nonprofit Security Grants to protect schools and houses of worship is nowhere to be found. Disgraceful!”

The Republican bill would rescind $14.3 billion in funding allocated to the IRS by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 for increased enforcement against wealthy tax evaders. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated that this rescission would decrease revenues by $26.8 billion over the next decade.

  1. wHAT DO YOU EXPECT WHEN PUTIN WANTS INACTION FOR HIS PAYCHECKS,
The GOP is fulling engaged in dismantling out national defence in order to give tax breaks to those who use our economy & expect to load it all into Swiss bank account s so they can fly away when the whole thing collapses in on it self.

  2. What did anyone expect???? Pascrell votes against any legislation not proposed or enacted by Democrats.
Pascrell would vote against his own mother if she was a Republican.

Pascrell is a mealy-mouthed traitor to his own country (since he was a U.S. Army veteran that turned into a Manchurian Candidate).

  3. Democrat strategist Jonathan Gruber once noted that Democrats secure their policy victories by counting on the stupidity of the American people. Alas, too many Americans justify the Dems’ opinions by falling for lies, conspiracy theories, and fairy tales.

What we have here is JRB and the extreme left Dems telling us that a paltry $2T in annual deficits isn’t enough; we need to add another $100B in borrowed $ to our kids’ debt burden.

If the Dems were a serious Party, as opposed to a serious threat, they would propose a way to pay for the stuff they say we need. If they don’t like cuts to the IRS – asserting, without evidence, that any significant number of rich tax cheats exist is precisely pandering to stupid people – then let them propose cuts somewhere else. Or, heck, even a tax increase. Honest, responsible representatives pay for the spending they believe is necessary.

Unfortunately, there are no honest, responsible Democrats left.
