Veteran Paterson Councilman Bill McKoy is telling people he’s running for mayor in 2018.

McCoy represents the third ward.

Although not a longtime ally, he was a key backer four years ago of Mayor Jose “Joey’ Torres, who is now under indictment on corruption charges.

A Jamaican American, Mckoy is the third major candidate for Paterson Mayor who is openly telling people he’s running.

At-Large Councilman Alex Mendez and educator Manny Martinez are already openly and frankly talking about their respective candidacies.

Councilman Andre Sayegh is a fourth potential candidate for mayor.
