Seventy-one percent of New Jersey residents identify as religious, down 10% from 2014, (Pew Religious Landscape Study, 2025), yet 73% identify as spiritual.

This mirrors a national trend: 74% of Americans identify as spiritual yet those who say they are religiously unaffiliated grew to 29%, up from 23% in 2014.

Fifty-nine percent identify as Christian, 33% as Catholic.
