Addiego Bill to Allow Child Care Services Access to Public School Property Passes Committee

Teddy Bear Academy Legislation Advances

Trenton – Legislation sponsored by Senator Dawn Addiego, which would permit the use of public schools and school district property for certain child care services for children younger than school age, passed the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee today.

“With the change in school funding, some districts have taken a budget hit,” said Senator Addiego. “For those schools that are hurting, we should give them the flexibility to find creative solutions in order to maintain funding without tapping taxpayers. Allowing them to lease available property for early child care providers is a great way to supplement the district’s budget while still using the space for youth development and education.”

The bill, S-3330, passed committee today by a vote of 12-0.
