Assemblywoman DeCroce Endorses Lonegan for Congress
“Gottheimer seems intent on preserving the low-growth, no jobs, gray economy”

Hackensack, NJ — State Assemblywoman Betty Lou DeCroce, (R-26), today announced her support for conservative Republican Steve Lonegan in his campaign to retake New Jersey’s Fifth Congressional District for the GOP.

“Steve Lonegan has always fought for traditional values and conservative principles,” said DeCroce.  “Steve has always answered his party’s call, whether that meant stepping-up to take on a tough challenge like Cory Booker or coming to the assistance of a Republican candidate for local office.”

A former official in local government herself, DeCroce added that as a former mayor, Lonegan understands the problems faced by municipalities in New Jersey.

“Steve knows that New Jersey’s tax rates and regulatory system are holding back job creation and economic opportunity for our residents.” DeCroce said.  “Steve knows that New Jersey has the highest property taxes in America because property tax relief promises made to obtain passage of the state income tax were negated by the state’s judiciary.”

Lonegan’s campaign has focused on creating jobs, lowering taxes, and providing economic opportunity.  DeCroce said the Lonegan agenda is just what North Jersey wants and what America needs.

“The Democrat incumbent is an establishment liberal,” DeCroce said.  “Instead of betting on the future, Mr. Gottheimer seems intent on preserving the low-growth, no jobs, gray economy we had under President Obama.”

DeCroce also praised Lonegan as a strong social conservative.

“Some liberals want to equate Steve Lonegan’s strong belief in human rights — in particular the rights of those unborn — with somehow having a problem with women,” DeCroce said.  “This is a simplistic talking point designed to falsely depict women.  In fact, we are much more diverse in our issues than the DCCC and others would have people believe.”

Lonegan has already been endorsed by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), Bergen County State Senator Gerry Cardinale, Mrs. Ann Kievit, President of the Northwest New Jersey Taxpayers’ Association, Rev. Greg Quinlan, President of the Center for Garden State Families, on behalf of New Jersey for a Conservative Majority, Alexander Roubian, President of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS), United States Senator Ted Cruz, Warren County State Senator Mike Doherty, Sussex County State Senator Steve Oroho, Assemblyman Parker Space, Assemblyman-elect Hal Wirths, Sussex County State Committeewoman Jill Space, Morris County State Senator Joe Pennacchio, Assemblyman John DiMaio, and Assemblyman Erik Peterson.
