Atkins: Borough of Roselle awarded a New Jersey Library Construction Bond Grant in the amount of $5,500,000

Mayor Reginald Atkins is proud to announce  5.5 MILLION DOLLARS FOR A COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER
Friday, November 6, 2020, the Borough of Roselle was awarded a New Jersey Library Construction Bond Grant in the amount of $5,500,000. The project will consists of two components:
The first component will be the renovation of the existing 7,400 square feet library that was built approximately 83 years ago and is no longer capable of meeting its expanded role as a community resource center because of its limited size and antiquated design. Renovations will include new HVAC, better lighting, enhanced Wi-Fi and ADA accessible stacks.

The second component will be the construction of a new 15,400 square feet, two-story addition that will incorporate traditional library services with modern technology, infrastructure and resources. Building construction will incorporate Green Technology methods and materials. Overall library capacity will be increased from 79 seats to 279 seats. It will feature a new ADA accessible entrance, bathrooms and furniture, expanded technology, a large multi-purpose community room that can be sub-divided, smaller flexible space program rooms, study areas, adult collection, children’s section, energy efficient lighting,

This library construction project will enable the Roselle Public Library to become a community resource center, which will provide programs, resources, information and library services that will ensure the well-being and success of our community for many years to come.
