Bateman Launches Online Petition to Stop the PennEast Pipeline

Calls on Impacted Residents to Help Convince NJDEP to Block Proposal

Senator Kip Bateman launched an online petition to give residents who will be impacted by the proposed PennEast Pipeline the opportunity to influence the approval process.

“As a legislator who represents families that will be impacted by PennEast, I want to demonstrate to the NJDEP the massive opposition that exists to building the pipeline,” said Bateman (R-Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex and Somerset). “I’m asking everyone who’s opposed to PennEast to sign my online petition. This is your chance to ensure that your voice is heard.”

Bateman’s petition to stop the PennEast Pipeline can be signed at http://www.senatenj.com/penneast/.

“After FERC rubber-stamped the pipeline proposal, convincing the NJDEP of the dangers of the plan may be our last chance to stop PennEast,” said Bateman. “We need to a viable energy plan and to improve our infrastructure, but that shouldn’t come at the expense of our environment or property values.”
