BERGEN COUNTY CLERK HOGAN AWARDS RYAN STANFORD FIVE-STAR STUDENT AWARD
Bergen County Clerk John S. Hogan recently presented the 4th quarter FIVE-STAR STUDENT AWARD to Ryan Stanford, a senior at Mahwah High School.
Ryan was chosen for his exceptional leadership and desire to help others. Ryan is the president of the Mahwah High School Habitat for Humanity Club. During Covid, Ryan created the “Snow Angels” program. This program consists of students from the Habitat for Humanity Club who shovel snow for senior citizens in the Mahwah community. Ryan made sure that every senior citizen who asked for help, received the help they needed. In lieu of payment, Ryan accepted donations that went toward the Habitat for Humanity Club. They were able to raise over $500. Ryan continues to make a difference in his community through his hard work and dedication to helping others.
Ryan received a certificate, along with a $500 check from the John S. Hogan Foundation.
The Five-Star program encourages high school students to submit an application that can be found on the Clerk’s website, www.bergencountyclerk.org , a letter of recommendation from a non-family member, and photos/videos showing why they merit the “Five-Star Student Award” recognition. Clerk Hogan is looking to award students for their exemplary achievements, whether it be helping their community through volunteer work, student entrepreneurs who have developed a creative business model, or individuals who have overcome some form of adversity and have found a meaningful way to give back to their community.
The FIVE STAR STUDENT AWARD is awarded on a quarterly basis so students are encouraged to continue to make submissions. If a student’s submission has already been received, that submission will be reviewed and considered for future quarterly awards
