Caputo Remembers Legacy of Late Belleville Mayor Kimble

Former Belleville Mayor Raymond Kimble has passed away, according to a Bergen Record report. Kimble, who was 80, served as police chief in Belleville and mayor, first elected in 2006, until his defeat by Michael Melham in 2018.

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Ralph Caputo (D-Essex) released the following statement on the passing of former Belleville Mayor Raymond R. Kimble:

“I’m deeply saddened by the loss of Mayor Ray Kimble. His passing is not only a significant loss for his family and friends, but for the entire Belleville community.

“Ray devoted his life to trying to make his hometown a better place. He served in the Belleville Police Department for over 30 years, including five as police chief, and went on to become township manager and mayor of Belleville. No matter the role, he always found a way to help as many people as he could.

“I had the pleasure of working with Ray as an Essex County Freeholder and Assemblyman, and we always maintained a productive and enjoyable relationship. His inspiring work in and dedication to Belleville won’t soon be forgotten.”
