CarePoint Health to Hold Ribbon Cutting at Bayonne Medical Center for New 3D Mammography and Bone Density Machine 

 

                  WHEN:            Tuesday, October 30, 2018, 10:00-11:00 a.m.

 

                   WHAT:             To close out Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bayonne Medical Center, a CarePoint Health hospital, will cut the ribbon on its new, state-of the-art 3D mammography and bone density scanner technology in its Radiology Department. The addition of this specialized equipment will enable doctors to have a better in-depth look at and behind breast tissue in order to more accurately detect possible abnormalities that may indicate breast cancer. Osteoporosis can be diagnosed by the DEXA bone density scanner that definitively determines the degree to which bone loss is occurring.

                       WHY:            Early detection and getting mammograms regularly can improve the outcomes from breast cancer especially given that breast cancer claims 1,300 lives annually in New Jersey, as is the most common form of cancerin New Jersey. Adding 3D mammography and a bone density scanner to Bayonne Medical Center ensures that Hudson County women have the latest x-ray technology available to them to provide clearer imaging and more accurate diagnoses on the state of their breast and bone health.////
