Committee Hearing Will Focus on Veterans’ Needs, Financial Benefits & Affordability Bills
TRENTON – The first meeting of the Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee in the new legislative session on Monday will focus on the needs of veterans, promote financial benefits available to them and act on additional veterans’ affordability bills.
The committee will get input on the needs of veterans from state officials, organizations and advocates, and promote the availability of tax benefits that will make the lives of veterans more affordable, said Senator Joe Cryan, the chair of the committee. The panel will also take action on a series of bills that would provide additional tax credits to employ veterans, their spouses and family caregivers.
A representative from the New Jersey Division of Taxation will provide information on how veterans can take advantage of existing tax benefits: the Veteran Tax Exemption, the Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemption, the Veteran Property Tax Deduction and the Wounded Warrior Caregivers Credit.
The Senate Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee will meet on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 10:00 AM in Committee Room 6, 1st Floor, State House Annex, Trenton, New Jersey.
The participants will include Adjutant General Brigadier General Lisa Hou D.O; Ken Hagemann, State Adjutant/Quartermaster, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Dept. of New Jersey HQ; Sally Stenton, Esq., Counsel, Law Offices of Robert A. Ebberup LLC; Christopher Arnold, Northeast Region Liaison, United States Department of Defense-State Liaison Office, and Jacob Foy, New Jersey Division of Taxation.
