Committee Hearing Will Include Focus on Businesses & Organizations That Actively Support Veterans

  

TRENTON – Monday’s meeting of the Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee will include a public hearing with many of the businesses and organizations that actively aid and support veterans and their families, said Senator Joe Cryan, the committee’s chairman.

 

“This will put a focus on the businesses and organizations that are leading the way with resourceful and innovative programs that actively support veterans and their families,” said Senator Cryan (D-Union). “They are examples of what can be done for the men and women who have served and sacrificed in the armed forces. We have a shared responsibility to honor their service with support and assistance for those in need.”

 

The committee will also consider a series of bills that aid veterans, including legislation requiring health and safety upgrades at the two veterans homes that experienced high infection rates and fatalities related to Covid.

 

The Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee will meet on Monday, January 30 at 10:00 a.m., Room 6, State House Annex, Trenton. The hearing will be available via the OLS website (https://www.njleg.state.nj.us/live-proceedings).

Concerns professional licensing and application fees for spouse or dependent of active duty member of United States Armed Forces.

Gopal

Prohibits persons from receiving compensation for advising or assisting with veterans benefits.

Cryan

Allows for issuance of two-year temporary courtesy license for nonresident military spouses in certain professions.
S3484

Cryan

Requires DMVA provide central website registry of unclaimed veteran cremains for veteran organization locating services; Requires funeral director report possession of unclaimed veteran cremains.
S3485

Cryan

Increases personal needs allowance to $50 for recipients of Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income who are veterans or spouses; provides for annual cost-of-living increase in allowance.
S3492

Cryan

Requires converting portion of Paramus and Menlo Park veterans’ memorial homes into single occupancy and negative pressure ventilation rooms, and requires upgrades to ventilation systems.
