Concerned Seniors rally highlights 65,000 postcard initiative & other actions to help Andy Kim defeat Tom MacArthur
Marlton–Topher Spiro, Senior Fellow and Vice President for Health Policy at the Center of American Progress joined more than 60 Concerned Seniors from the 3rd Congressional District for an indoor media event and rally where the seniors highlighted the 65,000 voter postcard initiative launched for congressional candidate Andy Kim. The seniors are calling on other seniors throughout the district to vote out Republican Congressman Tom MacArthur (NJ-3) on November 6th. The Concerned Seniors want MacArthur held accountable for rising prescription drug prices and voting for tax legislation that would lead to massive cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
“MacArthur’s positions on healthcare have been a disaster for seniors, and we are fighting back!” said 93-year old Lumberton resident, Ruth Gage, speaking on behalf of Concerned Seniors. The group hopes its efforts will spur seniors throughout the district to come out and vote for Andy Kim.
The seniors described the postcard initiatives in detail, thanking the all the seniors who helped stamp, label, and personally sign every card over a period of 10 weeks, culminating this past Friday. They spoke about their other efforts including canvassing, attending rallies, and setting up Andy Kim tables at various community events.
Davis Henderson, Lumberton resident closed the event with a final request: “Please call your children and grandchildren this weekend if they’re of voting age and beg them to vote on Tuesday. Their generations can determine the outcome of this election. Tell them their country needs them. And tell them you love them!”
