Congressman Sires Appointed to the Committee on the Budget

(Washington D.C.) – On February 13, 2019, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced that Congressman Albio Sires (D-NJ) would serve on the Committee on the Budget for the 116th Congress.  He will continue to serve on the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure.  

“I am honored to join the House Budget Committee and look forward to working with my colleagues as we examine our nation’s fiscal policies,” said Rep. Sires.  “The Budget Committee provides much needed oversight and I am committed to ensuring that American tax dollars are spent on effective programs that make a difference in communities.”

The Committee on the Budget is responsible for enacting budget policy and legislative oversight over the nation’s budget. The annual budget resolution to set levels of federal spending falls under the jurisdiction of the Budget Committee. More information can be found on the Committee’s website: budget.house.gov.
