Danielsen Chosen to Lead Assembly Regulatory Oversight & Reform & Federal Relations Committee

Assemblyman will also serve on Financial Institutions & Insurance & Education Committees.

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin has selected Assemblyman Joe Danielsen to lead the Assembly Regulatory Oversight and Reform and Federal Relations Committee.

The committee focuses on legislation to reduce governmental bureaucracy or “red tape;” works to ensure that the Executive Branch implements laws as intended by the Legislature; and liaises with counterparts at the federal level on laws and issues that impact New Jersey.

“Assemblyman Danielsen has a history of service to the community, not just as an elected official, but as an Army reserve and a volunteer firefighter,” said Coughlin (D-Middlesex). “I trust that his experience and dedication to public service will help guide this committee in the right direction.”

“I am grateful to Speaker Coughlin for his trust and for this opportunity,” said Danielsen (D-Middlesex/Somerset). “Bureaucracy and mismanagement erodes the public trust that is so vital to government. I look forward to working with the rest of the committee on policies that will help ensure that government works effectively and efficiently for the people we represent.”

Danielsen, who joined the Assembly in 2014 as the 17th district legislative representative, will also serve on the Assembly’s Education Committee and Financial Institutions & Insurance Committee.

A life-long resident of Franklin Township, Danielsen is an Army veteran, having served in the 78th Div. Reserve TNG from 1982-1991, as well as a volunteer fire fighter for the past 22 years.

Danielsen received an A.S. in Marketing, Art, and Design from Middlesex County College and a B.A. in Visual Arts from Rutgers University, and operates his own business in Somerset.

Danielsen has served in numerous public capacities, most notably elected to the Franklin Township Board of Fire Commissioners District 1 for two terms. During his term he was integral in creating an inter-local agreement between the township and the four fire districts that provided fire fighters during the day, which saved jobs and doubled the level of fire response to the taxpayers at a low cost.

Danielsen also served on the township Planning Board for 14 years and was vice chair for many of those years, and served as the chairman of the Franklin Township Municipal Democratic Committee.

Danielsen is the #1 individual fundraiser in New Jersey (12th nationally) for Childhood Cancer Research through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, shaving his head every year to stand in solidarity with children stricken by the disease.
