DCCC CHAIR LUJÁN RECOGNIZES MIKIE SHERRILL AS PART OF ‘RED TO BLUE’ PROGRAM
Addition to Battle-Tested Red to Blue Program Highlights Sherrill’s Strong Campaign
DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján today announced that Mikie Sherrill has earned a spot on the DCCC’s highly competitive Red to Blue program. Sherrill is one of only 18 Democratic candidates in the country to receive this designation thus far.
Sherrill has worked hard in her community to earn a spot on Red to Blue by surpassing aggressive goals for grassroots engagement, local support, campaign organization and fundraising. Beyond her demonstrated ability to build a winning campaign infrastructure, Sherrill has a strong record of service, an authentic message that connect with voters in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District and deep ties to the community she aims to serve.
“A Navy veteran and former federal prosecutor, Mikie Sherrill has spent her life serving our country,” said DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Lujan. “As a Navy helicopter pilot, Mikie flew missions throughout the Middle East, and in the U.S. Attorney’s office she both prosecuted violent and white-collar criminals and developed programs to help prevent crime in the community. Mikie gets the job done and it’s clear why she’s been able to build one of the strongest, grassroots-driven campaigns in the nation.”
Red to Blue is a highly competitive and battle-tested program at the DCCC that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to run strong campaigns. Additionally, the DCCC provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings, and more. It is not an endorsement.
In 2018, the DCCC will make more targeted and frequent additions to the Red to Blue program than in previous election cycles.
