Democratic Candidates for LD37 Issue Statement on Atlanta Shooting

Bergen County, NJ – Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore Gordon M. Johnson, Shama Haider and Ellen Park, the three Democratic candidates for District 37’s legislative slate, issued the following statement in response to the tragic shooting in Atlanta, Georgia:

“The rise of violence against our Asian American Pacific Islander friends and neighbors is unacceptable. Many people of Asian descent, including those right here in District 37, are feeling scared, traumatized, and targeted.

“We, as Americans, need to stand against all forms of racism, bigotry and violence. That means standing with the victims and their loved ones in Atlanta and with all the AAPI communities across the country and around the world. It is up to all of us as human beings to stop the hateful xenophobia and attacks in our society.”
