DENISE KING WINS LANDSLIDE VICTORY IN LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT 23 DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY STATE SENATE RACE

Bedminster (June 7) Denise King, running for the Democratic nomination in yesterday’s primary
for State Senate in Legislative District 23 won an overwhelming victory over her challenger
Roger Bacon and will now face incumbent State Senator Doug Steinhardt in November’s General
Election according to unofficial results reported last evening.

“It is humbling to win by such overwhelming margins and it shows that listening to voters and
addressing their concerns is not only the way to win elections, but also to restore confidence in
the electorate that government can still work for them. Overdevelopment, threats to our
environment including climate change, the challenges that small business owners including our
farmers face as they try to succeed in an ever more difficult business environment, making New
Jersey more affordable and worker friendly, these are just some of the issues that our current
legislators in District 23 fail to lead on and to which I look forward to addressing in the weeks
and months ahead.” said Denise King, District 23 Democratic Candidate for State Senate.
LD 23 contains parts of Northern Somerset, Northern Hunterdon, and most of Warren County.

Currently
the District is represented by Republicans Doug Steinhardt, John DiMaio and Erik Peterson.
“Congratulations to Denise for her great victory and her running mates, Guy Citron and Margaret
Weinberger who while running unopposed in the Primary, now join Denise in what promises to be a very
spirited and high energy campaign. Denise, Guy, and Margaret represent what I believe would be a great
asset when it comes to representing the citizens of District 23, people who will actually take the time to
listen to residents and then work in a moderate, reasonable fashion to craft solutions that will actually
get things done and make a difference in improving people’s lives.” said Peg Schaffer, Somerset County
Democratic Chairwoman.

State Senate and Assembly races lead the ticket this year with numerous County and local races also
being decided in the election to be held November 7th. As in previous years, Vote by Mail applications
will be accepted on a rolling basis with applications needing to be received by October 31st

. For those

who apply early, ballots will begin going out by late September.
“I am very excited for the momentum we are seeing in LD23. We have excellent community members
running for elected office with an agenda to continue to ensure that Hunterdon County remains a
beautiful place to live and work. Congratulations to our candidates on wonderful. Results.” said
Hunterdon County Democratic Committee Vice Chairman Marvin Fields.
“You can feel the enthusiasm building about Denise, Guy and Margaret leading the ticket this year as our
State Senate and Assembly candidates. Their big win yesterday highlights the energy out there for the
upcoming campaign and for the real possibility of a change in representation in LD 23. said Tom Palmieri,
Warren County Democratic Chairman.
