Murphy, Platkin, and Gopal Allow Crime to Flourish, While Punishing Parents
COLTS NECK, N.J. – Today, Steve Dnistrian, Candidate for NJ State Senate, and Assemblywomen Marilyn Piperno and Kim Eulner of New Jersey’s 11th Legislative District, released the following statement:
“For years, people have flocked to Monmouth County because there is no better place to work and raise a family. Thanks to the soft-on-crime policies of Governor Phil Murphy, Attorney General Matt Platkin, and Senator Vin Gopal, however, our citizens have been overwhelmed by a crime spree. In the past few days alone, Fair Haven and Freehold have seen multiple home invasions, and Eatontown and Long Branch small businesses have been robbed. It’s a disgrace,” said Steve Dnistrian, candidate for State Senate.
Assemblywomen Piperno and Eulner continued, “Enough is enough. Instead of dragging school boards and parents into court to sue them over common sense parental notification policies, Murphy, Platkin, and Gopal should be focused on fighting the true criminals in our own backyard.”
Dnistrian, Piperno, and Eulner then unveiled a 5-point plan for reversing the Democrats’ misguided and dangerous priorities:
- Stiffen penalties for repeat offenders when they are employed by a criminal enterprise.
- Stop the revolving door, catch-and-release policy. We need a mandatory hold on repeat offenders or any offender that enters a residential home.
- Fully support and fund law enforcement to add new technologies for tracking stolen vehicles.
- Change the laws to require that juvenile offenders, along with their parents or guardians, attend mandatory education programs.
- Work with federal authorities to review organized auto theft groups and the shipment of stolen cars overseas and push to vigorously prosecute these crimes under federal RICO statutes.
Legislative District 11 has been named by national Republicans as one of the state’s most competitive races this November. The district encompasses Allenhurst, Asbury Park, Bradley Beach, Colts Neck, Deal, Eatontown, Fair Haven, Freehold Borough and Township, Interlaken, Loch Arbour, Long Branch, Neptune City and Township, Ocean, Red Bank, Shrewsbury Borough and Township and Tinton Falls.
